JOB PURPOSE:
The Sustainability team is a vital pillar within the site, dedicated to ensuring environmentally responsible and resource-efficient operations across all facilities. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices that reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Our team employs innovative approaches, utilizing data-driven sustainability metrics and green technologies to minimize our ecological footprint and maximize long-term value
The Sustainability Engineer directs our site's environmental efforts by developing programs that align with Sanofi's Planet Care strategies. This role works across departments to improve efficiency, manage utility budgets, and find cost-saving opportunities through energy and water reduction projects. The position also ensures compliance with HSE systems, manages ISO 50001 certification, and participates in sustainability audits both on-site and within the Sanofi network.
Main responsibilities:
1)Sustainability Program Development & Implementation
Design and execute comprehensive sustainability initiatives that directly support Sanofi's Planet Care strategies and environmental goalsFoster cross-functional collaboration between Engineering and other departments to enhance operational efficiencyIdentify, evaluate, and implement high-impact projects that significantly reduce the site's environmental footprint while maintaining operational excellence2) Utility Data Management & Performance Reporting
Oversee comprehensive tracking systems for all utility consumption including natural gas, water, electricity, and other resourcesAnalyze consumption patterns to identify trends, abnormalities, and improvement opportunitiesEstablish meaningful reduction targets based on data analysis and industry benchmarks
3)Budget Management & Cost Optimization
Direct the planning and allocation of budgets for utility consumption, conservation projects, and sustainability initiativesConduct thorough cost-benefit analyses to identify and prioritize energy efficiency and water reduction opportunitiesTrack and report cost savings achieved through implemented sustainability measures
4) Environmental Compliance & Improvement
Partner with HSE team to conduct regular assessments of environmental compliance status Identify potential compliance gaps related to wastewater management, refrigerant handling, air emissions, and other environmental aspects
5) Management System Integration & Certification
Ensure alignment of sustainability programs with established HSE management systemsLead ISO 50001 energy management system implementation and maintenanceCoordinate and prepare for internal and external sustainability audits Represent the site during network-wide sustainability audits when requiredImplement corrective actions based on audit findings6) Knowledge Sharing & Network Engagement
Actively participate in Sanofi's Sustainability Community of Practice (COP)Share site best practices and lessons learned with the broader networkAdopt and adapt successful sustainability approaches from other Sanofi sitesStay current on emerging sustainability technologies and methodologies
7) Key Performance Indicators
Planet Care Metrics: Achieve targeted reductions in energy consumption, and water usageEnvironmental Compliance: Maintain full compliance with wastewater and air emission regulations; successfully maintain ISO 50001Budget Management: Operate within approved utility budgets while delivering planned conservation projectsStrategic Implementation: Successfully execute projects aligned with the 2030 sustainability roadmapHSE Responsibilities:
1. Follow the approved HSE policy and requirements.
2. Following and approving the work permit prior to contractor’s work start & prior to the start of any routine work process with significant risk.
3. Following the statutory legislation concerning Health, Safety, and environmental law.
3. Implementing controls for waste, resources management and pollution control to minimize the impact on the local environment.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Experience: 6 Months - 2 years in the pharmaceutical / food industry field
Education: Bachelor of Engineering
