Job Title: Survey Instrument Person

Job Description

The Survey Instrument Person will undertake a variety of surveying tasks and assist the Survey Party Chief with land surveys of roads, bridges, and building sites. This role includes establishing and re-establishing lines for construction stakeout surveys, easement and property lines, recovering property corners, setting traverse control points for boundary surveys, and marking stakes for construction projects.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate survey equipment, including data collectors, levels, and GPS, while performing all aspects of stakeout and location surveys.Conduct field duties such as loading, maintaining, and operating equipment like Total Station, Data collectors, Levels, and Magnetic Locators.Download data collector files each afternoon and complete reports in the downloaded job files book.Maintain field supply inventory, including stakes, pins, nails, and flagging.Perform additional field duties such as chaining, hub driving, setting up prisms, giving sights, carrying tools and supplies, opening manholes, digging, and cutting brush.

Essential Skills

High School Diploma or GED required.At least 1 year of surveying experience preferred.Experience with operating surveying equipment such as total stations, data collectors, levels, magnetic locators, hand-held radios, and GPS.Ability to travel 20% as needed with travel expenses covered.Valid driver's license.Ability to pass drug and background checks.

Work Environment

This position requires a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel throughout Virginia and surrounding states. The role may involve workshare assignments to other offices, requiring travel and occasional weekend stays. Expect to work overtime as needed. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36920.00 - $58250.00/yr.
