SURTASS Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician Crewmember – Electro-Mechanical Specialist

Lorenzen; COBRA DANE Radar O&M/S program at Eareckson Air Station on Shemya Island, Alaska, which V2X has operated and maintained for over 50 years; The Hughes Air Defense Radar (HADR) Sustainment program that includes SME and Depot support of two radars located in Taiwan; Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMS PAC) program and their efforts in facilitating key communication requirements from Hawaii and Australia; and Japanese – Auxiliary Oceanographic Surveillance (J-AOS), on which we have a long history of providing key Field Support. The SURTASS program provides an on-demand, mobile, and active / passive maritime surveillance capability in support of Joint and Naval Task Force commanders via towed acoustic sensor systems. The ships and installed SURTASS mission equipment are designed for extended duration deployment and independent operations in remote geographic areas; self-sufficiency in operations and maintenance is an important mission objective. It is intended that operations and maintenance be performed on board vessels and in depot maintenance facilities with the objective of maximizing operational readiness. In performance of this mission, V2X is seeking an experienced Electronics and/or SONAR Technician to work aboard government owned Ocean Surveillance Ships conducting Surveillance Towed Array Sensory System (SURTASS) operations at sea. O&M Technicians will be on a rotational deployment schedule based on ship schedules. Our management team prides itself on its efforts to prioritize quality of life and family for our personnel. Mission requirements dictate that the successful candidate work in excess of 40-hours per week while deployed in an arduous duty environment at sea. The selected candidate can reside anywhere, as long as he/she is flexible for deployments and travel. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. #clearance Responsibilities Major Job Activities: As an O&M Technician Crewmember – Electro-Mechanical Specialist of the SURTASS team, you will be responsible for the following: Perform the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electro-mechanical systems onboard SURTASS Vessels. Standing watch in the SURTASS Operations Center (SOC) onboard SURTASS Vessels to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SURTASS mission equipment to support Fleet requirements, including maintaining all required records and logs and monitoring and sending record Naval Message Traffic. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on SURTASS mission equipment in accordance with the PMS and other reference documents, as required. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on: Passive Array winch, to include all hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Antennas, including preservation. Electrical generation and distribution equipment and systems. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, limited to routine system checks and filter changes. Van doors. Protected Distribution System. Van lighting systems, internal and external. Freshwater washdowns, minor preservation, and minor painting of the vans. Utilize the WILD trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action in the JSN / WKRQ log, which shall include all applicable labor, external technical assistance, parts, and time expended. Maintain an accurate logistics inventory as provided by the Government, and provide periodic updates to the Product Support Facility (PSF), noting that any deviation beyond 5% of consumables and 2% of repair parts can result in financial liability for V2X to correct. Operate the shipboard test equipment pool used with SURTASS mission equipment, including ensuring it is in calibration through early and frequent coordination with the PSF. The Government will provide the test equipment, and be responsible for repair, calibration, and replacement of test equipment. Maintain a technical library on each ship to support all SURTASS mission equipment. Qualifications Required Qualifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification required within 12 months. In possession of, and able to maintain a valid United States driver’s license. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to share common spaces over lengthy deployment periods and work closely with others in a small working area and in a shipboard environment. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, repair hardware, and perform daily tasks such as status reports, asset tracking, and generating / resolving trouble tickets. Ability to perform assigned taskings. In possession of, and able to maintain a valid U.S. passport. Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. The ability to obtain and maintain company provided travel charge cards. Security Clearance Requirement: An active Department of Defense Secret level clearance is required. Top Secret clearance with SCI access is preferred. Desired Qualifications: A graduate of a US Navy mechanical, electrical, or electronics program, accredited trade school or apprenticeship program, or equivalent. Curriculum must have dealt directly with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical systems. At a minimum, the curriculum must demonstrate training on hydraulic power systems and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Three years of practical hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and HVAC systems. Graduate of Navy Communications Security (COMSEC) Manager School. Three years of experience serving in a COMSEC Program Three years of experience with personnel, information, and physical security Ability to perform as a KMI Operating Account Manager/COMSEC Account Manager (KOAM/CAM). Perform COMSEC account management and be responsible for the performance of the assigned SURTASS Vessel's COMSEC account. Perform verification and accountability of classified material inventory. Perform destruction of classified material when no longer required, and complete the associated documentation. Ensure physical security compliance and verification. Conduct Defense Courier Service (DCS) deliveries and pickups for the assigned SURTASS Vessel, and assist other SURTASS Vessels when schedules permit.
