Job Summary Surgical Trauma To provide acute inpatient care and perform selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians. Duties include: Obtain thorough medical history and physical examinations, as well as perform daily assessments. Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care in H&P, consults or discharge summaries. Performs a wide range of surgical and/or medical procedures. Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications required for procedures. Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations. Determines treatment plan for patient. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and concentrate. Acts as a patient advocate for the population served. Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested. Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, Masters of Nurse Practitioner, or similar degree conferred by an accredited program, such as NCCPA and ARC-PA; required. Experience: One year of experience working in general or other surgical subspecialty, emergency/inpatient medicine or comparable experience; preferred. 3 to 5 years experience, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current NP or PA license in appropriate state, registry required w/state medical board, current DEA registry and ACLS( not required for the in- office only NP/PA) and BLS. Required. Additional Skills Required: This is a hybrid position requiring both general trauma and orthopedic trauma proficiency. Candidates should possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, general computer knowledge is required; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration with physicians, nurses and care team. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, and creative thinking skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing clinical environment. General Surgery/Trauma Surgery skills (not all inclusive): Laceration repair, I&D of abscesses and wounds. Vascular access and tube placements are a must. Orthopedic Trauma Surgery skills (not all inclusive): Fracture/dislocation reduction and casting as well as open fracture management. Job Opening ID 95728
