JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Technologist - Operating Room assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in creating and maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments to surgeons. Understands procedure being performed and anticipates needs of the surgeon. Performs and participates in disassembly/decontamination, assembly/bundling, sterilization and high-level disinfection processes and the storage and distribution of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Assists the Physician as assigned in the OR and Endoscopy unit.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Graduate from an accredited program for Surgical Technologist.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Minimum Required: 1-2 years’ experience in an Operating Room or Ambulatory Care Center. Training-graduate from an accredited program for Surgical Technologists. Demonstrates excellence in customer service and professional conduct. Must have excellent communication skills. Possesses and displays a sense of responsibility and effective organizational and communication skills. Is able to effectively prioritize work when dealing with multiple tasks. Functions independently to complete assigned tasks. Must participate in the call schedule. Thorough knowledge of principles of asepsis.

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
