The Cardiovascular Operating Room Certified Surgical Technologist ( CVOR CST ) participates as part of the surgical team in assisting nursing staff in support services necessary for safe and efficient care of patients within the open-heart setting of surgical services.
What the Surgical Technologist ( CVOR CST ) Will Do:
Prepares for scheduled operative procedure by arranging sterile set up of instrument table with drapes, instruments and sutures required for procedure according to surgeon preference and maintains sterile field throughout the case. Sets up and cleans TEE Probe for Open Heart cases. The CVOR CST must have a clear understanding of the cannulation process of the venous, aorta, IVC, SVC, systems as well as understanding of Femoral, axillary access for all bypass cannulations. Must be competent in the setup of cardiopulmonary bypass. There must be a clear understanding of all perfusion lines, cannulas, distal and proximal anastomosis as well as managing multiple sutures for all bypass procedures and valve replacements while coordinating with perfusion during the management of the heart and lung bypass machine.Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an Associate Degree Program for Surgical Technology or Certification Program for Surgical Technology.Must have at least one (1) year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience and preferred one (1) year of Cardiovascular Services experience or open-heart surgery experience.
