Surgical Technologist Cardiac Team $7000 Sign-On Bonus!
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Position Purpose:** The surgical technologist, using the principles of medical asepsis, prepares the operating room for surgical cases of all specialties and instruments the surgical procedures anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The surgical technologist provides care within the MercyOne North Iowa Standards of Care, AORN Standards of Care and Practice and the Operating Room Policies and Procedures. **What you Will Do:** + Assists the circulating nurse in assessing the patients' needs and helps to develop and implement the plan of care. + Provides care to all surgical patients in accordance with the operating room’s performance standards, physician preference cards, and the AORN Standards of Care and Practice. + Assists in setting up rooms. + Secures safe transport of the patient if needed. + Confirms correctness of the surgical site, prepares the pre-operative site, instruments the case, manages the sterile field and specimens, and turns the room around under the supervision of the circulating nurse. + Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources. + Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. + Identifies accurate changes on surgeons' preference cards. + Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies during the case and in the department. + Develops and maintains knowledge/skills in all surgical specialties. **Hours:** Day Shift - 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts available. Heart call 10-11 days per month, one weekend a month and 2 holidays per year. If not on call for the weekend, 1-2 weekdays.
