\nJob Summary
\nIn this role, as Surgical Technician 3, you help in surgeries during the operation phase. You assist a Registered Nurse to improve efficiency by managing equipment and instruments. Your job is vital for a safe operating room, keeping equipment ready and working well. You will manage supplies and equipment for a specific surgical service line. Additionally, you will communicate between the service line, surgeons, and team members.
\nEssential Functions of the Role
\n\nTalking to the surgeon beforehand concerning special needs and getting ready before they show up.\nCleaning and preparing the surgical area as needed.\nEnsuring proper setup and maintenance of the instrument table to prevent instrument damage.\nMaking sure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies function as expected during surgical procedures.\nPerforming counts of all surgical items, such as sponges, sharps, and instruments, following the appropriate policies and procedures.\nAnticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, offering sterile supplies and equipment, and responding accordingly during the surgery.\nAssisting in draping and repositioning the patient for the surgical team.\nAdhering to specified protocols when handling surgical specimens and verifying their source.\nPreparing soiled instruments for transit to the decontamination area.\nCleaning the operating room after each case and organizing equipment in designated storage areas.\nAdhering to infection control policies, recommended practices, OSHA guidelines, and other regulations to ensure a safe working environment.\nManaging inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies, following established policy, procedures, and regulatory standards.\n\nKey Success Factors
\n\nAn understanding of sterilization standards and how to prevent infections is crucial.\nFamiliarity with sterile and aseptic techniques, both in theory and application.\nSurgeons should have deep knowledge of human body, surgeries, and tools necessary for procedures. They require expertise in invasive techniques.\nProficiency in communication and building relationships to efficiently collaborate with the surgical and central sterile processing team members.\nCapacity to occasionally work in an environment with potential chemical and radiation hazards.\nCompletion of all necessary educational and certification requirements and a history of successful accomplishments in the same.\n\nBelonging Statement

QUALIFICATIONS
\n\nEDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program\nEXPERIENCE - (2) Two Years of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer.\nCert Surgical Technologist (CST): CST from NBSTSA or NCCT (EDU must be CAAHEP accredited)\n\n\n\nIf CAN or EMPL has experience prior 9/1/2009 in healthcare or military, GAP and Cert will not be required & Min Qual: HS/GED
\nIf CAN or EMPL does not have experience prior to 2009, GAP and CST are required.
