Job Summary
Under direction and supervision of a surgical technician, surgical technician extern provides assistance to surgeon by passing instruments, assuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures. Shares responsibility for patient safety in accordance with the policy and procedure for sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities (Under direction and supervision of surgical technician)
Performs scrubbing duties, according to standards, for all surgical preparation, for all specialties, including but not limited to General, Gynecology, Urology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, and Plastic/ENT.Sets up the operating room in accordance with instructions and physician requests.Ensures the operating room is cleaned and set up for turn over for the next procedure.Restocks rooms with supplies. Notifies leadership if items are running short, or if there are any quality problems.Organizes equipment, and ensures equipment is placed in orderly, neat and clean area, for use by physicians and other staff.Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology Program is Required High School Diploma/GED equivalent in General Studies is RequiredExperience
Additional experience - Enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology ProgramCertifications and Licensures
License/Certification is Required upon graduationCertified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation is Required
