Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Responsible for receiving surgical supplies and equipment and routing stock items to designated locations. Reports to: Director Surgical Services Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. DragEditDelete Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. DragEditDelete Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. DragEditDelete Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. DragEditDelete Orders sterile and non-sterile supplies for surgery and ENDO DragEditDelete Checks for outdated supplies and rotates stock when restocking supply carts. DragEditDelete Coordinates instrument repairs and loaned instruments. Obtains price quotes for repair and new instruments. DragEditDelete Performs all clerical/computer functions to support patient care delivery. DragEditDelete Stocks unit with office and medical supplies and prepares requisitions to maintain inventory levels. DragEditDelete Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls or takes messages. *Minimum Education* Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program - Preferred DragEditDelete *Required Skills* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required. DragEditDelete *Required Skills* Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire. DragEditDelete *Required Skills* Licenses: Certification is required for experienced surgical technologist upon hire unless qualifications are met under the TCA Section 68-57-102 grandfather clause effective 7/1/2006. New Graduate Surgical Technologists are required to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
