Surgical Support Technician - Outpatient Surgery Center OR

Novice level/novice performs and facilitate the set up and break down of OR surgical rooms. The SST I will:
• Sort and dispose contaminated materials per hospital guidelines.
• Patient transport to and from Surgery, providing comfort and report concerns as needed (Main
O.R. Only).
• Demonstrate of infection control principles and aseptic techniques
• Demonstrates an understanding of the normal growth and development of the pediatric,
adolescent, adult populations and normal aging process of the elderly.
• Work cooperatively with the surgical team.
• Competency in the practice of advanced level case assignment and advanced level equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the use of equipment, instruments and supplies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology.
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think
critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage
multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and
prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.

+ Patient Safety: (Cleans surfaces and equipment in the Operating Room (OR)
+ Housekeeping Duties: (Collects and discards hospital waste using standard precautions and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines)
+ Personal Growth and Development Cleans area and keeps stock in order.
+ In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 0 years of experience (1 year preferred)
Licensure: BLS within 2 months of hire. CNA or EMT preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs. Working in environment with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs. Position Compensation Range: $19.11 - $29.62 Hourly
