Job Description

Job Summary 

The OR Central Supply Technician II is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, and distributing patient care equipment, supplies, and instruments in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role ensures the availability of sterile and properly maintained instruments and equipment to support surgical and patient care activities. The OR Central Supply Technician collaborates with the surgical team and other departments to maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 0800-1630

Essential Functions

Cleans and decontaminates patient care equipment, supplies, and instruments using antiseptic solutions and detergents according to manufacturer instructions and hospital policies. Operates sterilization equipment, including steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, following standard protocols and ensuring proper documentation. Assembles, wraps, labels, and seals surgical packs, treatment trays, and other equipment for sterilization. Conducts routine inspections and performs minor repairs on equipment, such as replacing rubber washers or spare parts, and escalates complex issues to the supervisor. Prepares decontamination and clean rooms for daily use and ensures they remain organized and sanitized throughout operations. Assists with morning rounds, collecting soiled instruments and supplies from various departments for reprocessing. Maintains accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological testing, and inventory management, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. Cross-trains as needed to provide coverage for related roles, such as Distribution Clerk, to ensure efficient operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Completion of a Surgical Tech program preferred 0-2 years of experience in the OR, central supply, sterile processing, or a related field required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of sterilization techniques, equipment operation, and infection control principles. Strong attention to detail for assembling and inspecting instruments and supplies. Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgical teams and other departments. Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records. Problem-solving skills to address minor equipment issues and ensure operational efficiency.

Licenses and Certifications

CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech preferred
