Job Summary:

Leads and coordinates activities in the neuro surgery and ortho spine surgical specialties and other tasks in support of surgical and central sterile services.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates shift operations including scheduling, assigned activities, and resources.Serves as a technical or functional resource for staff and performs similar duties.Assigns, monitors and reviews progress of work. Monitors and reports compliance with policies and procedures.Oversees and evaluates orientation and training of assigned associates. May provide input in the review and evaluation of staff performance.Oversees utilization and maintenance of supplies, instruments, and equipment.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians


EXPERIENCE

Six months' experience in surgical specialty or two years' of surgical technician experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.Constant use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.Constant lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Constant standing and walking.Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.Frequent lifting/moving patients.Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and gripping.Frequent use of clear vision at 20 inches or less.Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication.Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs.Occasional use of clear vision at 20 feet or more.Occasional use of sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Occasional keyboard use/data entry.Rare kneeling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

    Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)    And        Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)        Or        Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)        Or        National Registered Surgical Technician (NRST) - American Allied Health Association (AAH)
