Surgical Scheduler is a unique position that varies daily based on the clinical or clerical staffing needs of the practice. Duties often include supporting the physicians and\/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and direct patient care as well as assisting patients and staff with the administrative and clerical needs of the practice.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nSchedule and coordinate all surgical procedures, ensuring necessary materials are prepared, and manage pre-clearances and prior authorizations for surgeries.\nSupport PSRs by assisting with patient check-ins and check-outs, verifying\/updating demographics, scanning insurance cards, and collecting co-pays or outstanding balances.\nReview and confirm all H&Ps and surgical documents for the week to ensure completeness and signatures.\nHandle additional scheduling for labs, x-rays, procedures, and testing, as well as insurance referrals and pre-authorizations.\nAnswer and triage incoming calls, take messages, and confirm appointments, including handling patient questionnaires and appointment reminders.\nCheck out patients, print CVS, perform daily cash-out, and prepare bank deposits.\nUpdate patient status in Medent, including appointment confirmations, and manage provider meeting schedules.\nEnsure accurate placement of new and returning patients according to protocol, maintain provider templates, and manage answering service transitions.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent\nStrong customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to think through solutions.\nExcellent time management and prioritization abilities to handle tasks efficiently.\nProficient computer skills, including experience with Medent and Microsoft Office.\nFlexibility to assist other departments when needed, especially in case of staff shortages.\nAdditional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to support overall operations.\n\n

Preferred Skills and Experience:\n\nPrevious medical office experience preferred\nCollege level training\/education in a healthcare support field preferred\nPrevious EMR use\/training helpful and preferred\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\nSitting-- 90%\nStanding-- 10%\nReaching-- 50%\nBending-- 20%\nLifting-- must be able to lift 25 lb\n\n

Location and Travel Requirements:\n\nOnsite\nCayuga Wellness Center-310 Taughannock Blvd 4th floor\n8:00-4:30\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\n$20.50-26.00 per hour\n\n
