This is a remote position. Must be located in MO or IL. BJC’s patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital with the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the country. **Preferred Qualifications** **Role Purpose** The Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) is responsible for abstracting and sharing reliable data for the American College of Surgeons National Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP). This is accomplished through case inclusion screening, clinical chart review with application of ACS NSQIP-specific variable definitions, and data entry into the ACS NSQIP database. The SCR disseminates data and analytic reports to the NSQIP Surgeon Champion and hospital surgical stakeholders. **Responsibilities** + Identifies surgical patients for inclusion in the program registry through strict application of program inclusion/exclusion criteria, randomization protocol, and site-specific sample. + Responsible for reliable collection of preoperative, operative, and postoperative data through effective utilization of medical record system and available clinical information resources + Responsible for meeting the accrual requirement of cases (per 8-day cycle and per year) through the correct application of the program’s randomization protocol and timely case completion prior to registry lock dates. + Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, especially staff in Surgery, Quality, Nursing, Medical Records, and the Information Systems departments whose support is necessary for the management and success of the program.
