SURG TECH I / LVN I, O.R.

Job Summary: SURG TECH I: The operating room technician is responsible for setting up the operating room for each
surgery. This is accomplished by checking and providing needed supplies and necessary equipment
depending on the type of surgery that will be performed. This is an OSHA Category I.
LVN I: The Licensed Vocational Nurse assists the Registered Nurse in the delivery of nursing care. In addition
to performing all duties and responsibilities of the Nursing Assistant, the LVN also assists in patient teaching
assignments and is required to pass medications. May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Required Qualifications: LICENSURE: Valid license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse issued by the State of California
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent, education necessary to meet licensure requirements
CERTIFICATION: BLS, Valid Board Certified AST (Association of Surgical Technologists) and/or NBSTSA
(National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting), or be able to obtain certification within six (6)
months of hire, or a valid CA LVN license. Basic Dysrhythmia, must have a valid certificate showing
completion of course in I.V. Therapy and Blood Withdrawal which has been approved by the L.V.N. Board or
I.V. Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification noted on L.V.N. license or obtain within ninety (90) days of
hire. Knowledge of theory/techniques/practices of surgical intervention, as they relate to the “scrub”
role. Able to scrub on a variety of specialty cases. Able to participate in an on-call schedule. Knowledge of
AORN standards/practices for perioperative nursing. Knowledge of theory, techniques and practices of
vocational nursing.

Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft computer applications; Acute care experience as an LVN.

Salary range: $28.56-$40.19
