Job Summary:    

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Operations & Products (RIOP) Surface Rock Drill Engineering Project Team Lead performs as a machine lead in the surface rock drill engineering team. You will be the primary technical owner for the drill(s) assigned at the machine (L6) level and be the primary point of contact for those drills in the engineering team. This is a high-visibility position and will enable you to interact with many areas of the organization.

What You Will Do:

Ownership of the BOM for the machineLeading a cross functional team to deliver technical content of NPI programsInteract with Commercial, and other process partners to establish product requirementsLeading key technical discussions on system interactions (L6 and L5)Facilitating design decisions amongst the L4 system teamsProvide Engineering support to Internal / External BIQ ProcessesInteract with dealers and customers during customer site, and factory visitsEnsure that safety and regulations for the drills are in complianceSupport the technical steward in the development of machine MGPPsProvide support to manufacturing as neededProvide field support when requiredDrive collaboration across the engineering community and enable decision makingThe ability to balance theory and practice to drive sound decision making

Education requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.

What skills you will have:

Product Design and Development:

Proficient in Teamcenter.Proficient in multiple systems (hydraulic, electrical, etc) and familiar with machine or component design

Technical Excellence:

Excellent written and verbal communication.Ability to be a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.Knowledge of industry standards related to construction and mining machine designCaterpillar or Large Construction OEM design knowledge.Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up to date on technical and procedural job components.

Project Management:

Capability to manage a local and international team of engineers to design and develop technical systems.Good interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills to work with product, system, and component teams.Ability to develop and manage budgets for engineering projects.Leads high-impact engineering projects aligned with Caterpillar’s strategic goals.Tracks project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:

Ability to troubleshoot root cause for complicated technical problems.Capable of identifying or evaluating multiple solutions and selecting the best option to meet customer requirements.

Requirements Analysis:

Demonstrates knowledge with the architecture and design of major or multiple products.  Displays knowledge in estimating the cost of a specific design of a proposed product.   Facilitates design reviews and ensures alignment to product requirements.Ability to translate VOC into L6 Product requirementsAnalyzes benefits and drawbacks and facilitates discussions to align product requirements.

Top Candidates will also have:

Knowledge in machine design and/or machine system designKnowledge in multiple system engineering (i.e., structures and hydraulics)Previous knowledge in the NPI Processes    

Additional Information:    

This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Denison, TX office.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
