Surface Mount Operator
Surface Mount Operator Astronics Subsidiary Location Description **Position Summary:** We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating surface mount equipment, a working knowledge of printed circuit board assembly, and a strong understanding of solder paste application, component placement, reflow and cleaning. This role is critical to ensuring the efficiency and quality of our SMT line operations. **Key Responsibilities:** + Operate and maintain SMT equipment including Mycronic and Novastar pick-and-place machines. + Set up and run stencil or jet printer paste applications, understanding differences in methods and paste properties. + Perform quality checks and in-process inspections at each stage of production to ensure compliance with IPC-610 standards. + Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to identify component polarity and placement requirements. + Monitor scrap and rework rates, identifying potential component waste and reporting issues to technicians or supervisors. + Perform routine machine changeovers, including changing feeders, splicing reels, and scanning components. + Troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues related to pick-and-place machines, feeders, and solder paste application. + Maintain clean and ESD-safe work areas, following proper ESD and FOD handling procedures. + Collaborate with QC and materials departments to maintain inventory flow and address part shortages or line inefficiencies. + Participate in preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep activities. Position Requirements **Qualifications:** + 2+ years of experience in a surface mount or PCB manufacturing environment preferred + Familiarity with SMT machines, solder paste stencil machines (manual, semi-auto, or automatic), and reflow ovens. + Working knowledge of electronic components, feeders, and handling tools. + Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic issues in a production environment. + Experience with IPC-610 standards, technical drawing comprehension, and basic CAD preferred. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. + Computer proficiency for setup, tracking, and documentation. + Willingness to adapt to continuous improvement processes and evolving line configurations **Compensation** : + $25 - $32 per hour Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time About the Organization Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO) serves the world's aerospace, defense, and other mission critical industries with proven, innovative technology solutions.
