Title: SUPPORT TECHNICIAN I Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 250001Z5 Security Clearance: IT-2 (Non-critical Sensitive) – Requires favorable ANACI Location: Virginia Beach, VA Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required Summary: Provides first-line technical support for information systems users worldwide, resolving issues involving office automation, data communications, LAN, and POS systems. Manages help desk requests, troubleshoots problems, and ensures timely resolution while maintaining strict adherence to Department of the Navy cybersecurity policies. Key Responsibilities: Serve as first-level support for IT issues involving hardware, software, and system access. Utilize automated help desk systems to log, track, and manage requests. Gather detailed information to properly classify and escalate issues. Determine urgency of reported problems and refer them appropriately. Provide regular updates to customers and maintain communication throughout resolution. Assist in preparing weekly/monthly productivity reports. Enforce Information Security and Assurance principles in all support functions. Perform additional duties as assigned. Cyber IT/CSWF Program Compliance: This position is classified under the Department of the Navy’s Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) in Specialty Area 41 and requires the following: Credential Requirements (one of the following): Education : Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (see SECNAV M-5239.2 Appendix 4) Training : Examples include 14AA, 14BH, CYBR1005, NEC 1316, 2710, 2791, etc. Certification : CompTIA Security CE GIAC GSEC SSCP Operating System Certificate: Microsoft Windows 10 Desktop OS CE or as required by the command Privileged Access Statement: Signed agreement required Continuous Learning: Minimum 20 hours annually, documented in IDP Certification Timeframe: Candidates without credentials may be hired but must certify within 6 months or face termination. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Citizenship Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen General Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in administrative, technical, or investigative work that demonstrated the abilities and aptitudes required to perform technical, managerial, or analytical work involving management information systems . Education Substitution: One year of related post-high school academic study may be substituted for 9 months of experience , up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree to fulfill the 3-year general experience requirement. Specialized Experience (1 year required): Candidate must have at least one year of experience in technical support roles involving one or more of the following: Operating Systems: UNIX, Windows XP, Windows 7, DOS, Linux, OS400 Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, dBase, MS Access Application Areas: Point-of-Sale (POS), Electronic Messaging, Desktop Applications Functional Areas: Retail, Financial, Distribution, Logistics, Human Resources Help Desk or System Support: Direct experience in a technical help desk or system support capacity Automated Tracking Tools: Use of automated tools to monitor, track, and report support activity Data Analysis: Ability to analyze support trends and metrics using automated reporting tools Cybersecurity Certification Requirements: Information Assurance (IA) Certification (Must hold one): Preferred (Network Level): Security CE (CompTIA) Acceptable Alternatives: SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) SCNP (Security Certified Network Professional) CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) GSE (GIAC Security Expert) SCNA (Security Certified Network Architect) Technical Certification: Preferred: Microsoft Windows 7 Certification (MCDST, MCTS), or any current or future replacement certification for Microsoft Windows Configuration exams. Note: All certifications must be valid and current as defined by the certification issuer. Candidates may be hired without the required certifications but must obtain them within 6 months of appointment . Failure to do so will result in termination of employment .
