Here's the Scoop - Summary

The Supply Sustainability and Regulatory Analyst will be an individual contributor responsible for analyzing the sustainability status of all raw ingredients and packaging to ensure those materials are meeting or exceeding the sustainable sourcing requirements set forth by the business.

Another key responsibility of this role will be understanding the regulatory requirements for export and ensuring our suppliers maintain required regulatory documentation for needed ingredients. This position will work closely with our vast supply base of global suppliers and will require an entrepreneurial mindset to pursue and achieve set KPI’s.

They will be a key business partner in onboarding new suppliers and maintaining those relationships as an external-facing representative of Champion Petfoods.

This role is based in Edmonton, AB or Nashville, TN, and works a hybrid schedule between in office and working from a home-based office.

What a typical day looks like?

Maintain an understanding of the corporate guidelines for sustainable supply of raw materials, and influence the sourcing and procurement teams to ensure that all new raw material sources meet these guidelinesCollaborate with the broader Mars Sustainability teams across the globe to collect, organize, and deliver Green House Gas emission data among other KPI’sProvide validation and maintenance for Sustainability PowerBI which is used for sustainability reporting business-wideAssist in maintaining current copies of Regulatory export paperwork for all suppliers and providing support to the Regulatory team in building export packets when necessaryCollaborate with suppliers to ensure all export inspections and approvals are completed on time and required paperwork is available for federal reviewCreate and maintain a matrix of ingredient restrictions for the global regions that Champion sells intoSupport Kitchen Regulatory teams to plan and execute surveys of suppliers to assist in registration of new diets for global marketsAssist Ingredient Sourcing in onboarding new suppliers related to Sustainability initiativesTrack KPIs and report on Ingredient Supply sustainability performanceIn the event that a new sustainability initiative requires Sourcing activities (pricing comparison, supply security analysis, spec review, etc) this role will be expected to accomplish those tasksParticipate in team face-to-face meetings on a semi-annual basis

What we are looking for?

Education related to Supply Chain Management, Business, or Sustainability3 to 5 years’ experience in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, or Regulatory AffairsPrior experience or understanding of GHG reporting is an assetPrevious experience working in supply chain for food, agriculture, or animal feed, especially as it relates to sustainabilityFamiliarity with Supply Chain Management (SCM) software, Lifecycle Analysis process, PowerBI, and Carbon Accounting – all considered an advantage in this roleDemonstrated understanding of the petfood and agricultural industries’ production methods, industry success factors, and regulatory challengesWorking knowledge of current laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices and importation of goodsGood leadership abilities with a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, people management, and team building skillsA team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skillsAn energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and a positive professional imageAbility to be flexible and able to function comfortably in a fast paced, constantly changing and ambiguous environmentAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and SOP’sAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, suppliers, and employees.
