Avantor is looking for an experienced and motivated Supply Chain Service Lead to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this position, you’ll take ownership of inventory operations, procurement, reporting, and team leadership. You’ll be responsible for managing stock replenishment, overseeing offsite storage, supporting service delivery, and driving continuous improvement through data analysis and collaboration.
** You'll be based at our site at BioMedical Campus in Cambridge, overlooking operations across two store areas, located in buildings just a short walk apart **
This role will be a full-time, temporary (12 months) position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. The Team
You’ll join our Lab and Production Services (LPS) department, supporting global pharmaceutical operations. You’ll lead the Stores function at the Ann McLaren Building (AMB), provide cross-site support at DISC, and collaborate with stakeholders across logistics, procurement, and science teams.
What we’re looking for
GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualificationBroad experience in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management, preferably in a scientific environmentExperience in team leadership and cross-functional collaborationStrong understanding of procurement systems, stock control, and complianceAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creationDesirable: Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Power BI, and health & safety protocolsHow you’ll thrive and create an impactLead and support daily operations, including line management, workload coordination, and service deliveryProvide operational cover and leadership across stores as needed, ensuring business continuityManage procurement activities, including raising POs, tracking spend, and supporting invoice resolutionOversee offsite storage, ensuring accurate stock levels, replenishment, and complianceAnalyse reports and metrics to identify improvement opportunities and lead innovation projectsMaintain documentation for compliance and training, and lead audits, inspections, and GEMBA walksAct as a key point of contact for store-related queries and escalate complex issues as needed#LI-Onsite
