Supply Chain Planning Analyst - Manufacturing

Career Area:

Supply Chain and Logistics

Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

As a Supply Chain Planning Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and improving order-to-delivery performance across the facility. This position is deeply embedded in the manufacturing environment, with a balanced focus on both strategic planning and hands-on execution—spending approximately 50% of your time on the production floor and 50% in the office.

You will lead initiatives to develop and implement the Plan for Every Part (PFEP), optimize material flow, and enhance throughput efficiency. This includes determining the right type of containers, routing parts through the plant, designing floor layouts, and ensuring seamless part pickup and delivery processes.

What Makes This Role Unique:

Hands-On Impact: This is a manufacturing-focused role—not just procurement. You’ll be directly involved in shaping how materials move through the plant.

Automation Journey: Be part of an exciting transformation as we automate plant operations. You’ll work on cutting-edge projects that redefine how we operate.

Collaborative Culture: Join a small, tight-knit team that feels like family. We foster a diverse, supportive, and collaborative learning environment where you’ll be mentored by industry experts.

Product Focus: Work with lower powertrain products, contributing to the performance and reliability of our end products.

What you will do:

Develop and implement supply chain processes within manufacturing areas, including standard work, material handling strategies, and optimized floor layouts.

Own and maintain the Plan for Every Part for 2,000–5,000 part numbers across multiple value streams.

Collaborate with engineering, packaging, and production teams to design and implement effective containerization and material presentation solutions.

Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, root cause investigations (RCCA), and systemic problem-solving.

Contribute to the design and implementation of cell layouts and material flow systems to support lean manufacturing principles.

Document processes and PFEP data using planning tools and systems.

Assist in achieving manufacturing quality certifications (e.g., MQ) through cross-functional collaboration.

What skills you will have:

Supply Chain Management – MFG: Experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management and/or Logistics. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Computer skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

Business Process Improvement: Experience in applying best practices to evaluate and enhance supply chain and manufacturing workflows. Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions that improve operational performance and reduce costs.

Analytical Thinking: Experience in using data-driven techniques and tools to uncover root causes of operational challenges. Ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights to support decision-making.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to assess complex supply chain scenarios and make informed decisions using structured analysis and sound judgment.

Problem Solving: Experience in recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational and operational issues. Ability to apply structured problem-solving approaches across diverse manufacturing and logistics situations.

Project Management: Experience in leading cross-functional projects within supply chain and manufacturing contexts. Ability to plan, organize, and manage resources to achieve project goals efficiently.

Logistics Management: Experience in managing logistics operations to ensure the effective and timely movement of materials and finished goods. Ability to follow and improve logistics processes for enhanced efficiency.

Procurement: Experience in procurement and sourcing aligned with business strategies. Ability to manage vendor relationships and purchasing processes to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
