Supply Chain Planner

The Supply Planner is essential to ensuring the timely availability of materials and components required for production, while maintaining optimal inventory levels and supporting on-time delivery to customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply planning, supplier coordination, and cross-functional project management. This role requires a hands-on planner who can lead supply planning to ensure material availability, expedite critical materials, resolve shortages, and drive continuous improvement in supply chain performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Develop and maintain a rolling online plan aligned with sales forecasts, master production schedule, and supplier inventory status.
· Analyze historical usage, market trends, and customer demand to generate accurate material forecasts.
· Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to align supply strategies with business goals.
· Monitor inventory levels vs. inventory targets to ensure material availability without overstocking.
· Identify and resolve material shortages through root cause analysis, supplier engagement, and internal coordination.
· Lead daily shortage review meetings with purchasing, production, and engineering to prioritize and resolve critical issues.
· Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure timely placement and follow-up of purchase orders.
· Proactively expedite materials from suppliers to meet production needs and mitigate delays.
· Track and report on supplier delivery performance, escalating issues as needed to ensure continuity of supply.
· Assess supplier capacity and lead times to support production ramp-ups, new product introductions, and seasonal demand spikes.
· Work with buyers and suppliers to understand constraints and develop mitigation plans for capacity bottlenecks.
· Support sourcing decisions by providing data-driven insights on supplier capabilities and risks.
· Support cross-functional projects related to supply chain optimization, new product launches, and system enhancements.
· Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure material readiness for new builds, custom orders, and design changes.
· Track status, manage and escalate risks, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
· Maintain accurate planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems, including lead times, order quantities, and safety stock levels.
· Generate and analyze KPIs such as inventory vs target, inventory turns, SPECS Green Lights, on-time-delivery, and supplier shortages.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, supplier reliability, and operational efficiency.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
· Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related field desired.
· 3+ years of experience in supply planning, preferably in a manufacturing or marine industry environment.
· Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Syteline) as well MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power BI, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Strong analytical, documentation, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Experience with supplier negotiations, expediting, capacity planning, shortage resolution, and process improvement.
· Ability to contribute to and help build Bennington's culture of excellence.
· APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or Six-Sigma is a plus.
· Familiarity with marine components, materials, and supply chains.
· Passion for boating or marine products is a bonus!
· Experience in a make-to-order or engineer-to-order production environment.
· Experience in both periodic and perpetual Inventory Management Systems.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and achieve tight deadlines.
· Ability to influence, gain buy-in, and hold others accountable across all functions.
