**Supply Chain Operations – Oil & Gas - Downstream Operations Transformation - Manager**
**The opportunity**
We are seeking a manager with deep experience in downstream oil and gas operations, particularly in refinery or petrochemical plant environments to help shape how EY partners with clients to reimagine future-ready operating models. As a member of EY’s team, you will lead the design and early-stage execution of transformative solutions that integrate business, operations, and digital strategies across the downstream value chain. This role is ideal for a technically grounded operations professional who can bring credibility in plant environments and translate that into solution leadership across client engagements, pursuits, and ecosystem partnerships.
**Your key responsibilities**
As a manager in EY’s downstream operations team, you will:
+ Lead solution design and use case definition for integrated transformation programs across refining, chemicals, and downstream operations
+ Bring deep understanding of unit-level operations, reliability, process optimization, energy management, and margin uplift opportunities
+ Work side-by-side with client stakeholders such as plant managers, operations personnel, digital leads, and engineers to validate operational challenges and define transformation blueprints
+ Shape and differentiate EY’s go-to-market offerings for downstream operations, collaborating with alliance partners to co-create joint value propositions
+ Support pursuit teams by crafting solution architectures, articulating business impact, and contributing to client presentations and proposals
+ Represent EY in the local and global market through thought leadership, industry engagement, and active participation in strategic account planning
+ Partner with delivery teams to ensure continuity between design and implementation, including early-stage solution oversight and risk mitigation
+ Continuously refine EY’s downstream offerings through client feedback, industry signals, and internal collaboration
**Skills and attributes for success**
+ Deep operational knowledge of refinery or chemical plant operations, including units such as FCC, crude distillation, hydrocracking, sulfur recovery etc.
+ Practical experience with plant digital systems such as DCS, LIMS, historian platforms, and APC/ROM systems
+ Familiarity with emerging digital enablers in downstream: AI for yield optimization, predictive maintenance, operator digital assistants, real-time energy optimization, digital twins
+ Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset with ability to translate operational constraints into scalable solutions
+ Clear communication skills to synthesize plant-level complexity into business case rationale for executive stakeholders
+ Experience working across business, operations, and digital functions to co-develop transformation programs
**To qualify for the role, you must have**
+ A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical discipline
+ 6–10 years of experience in downstream oil and gas operations, particularly in refining or petrochemical production environments
+ Hands-on experience in unit operations, reliability or maintenance engineering, process optimization, or production planning
+ Experience working on or with cross-functional teams driving operational excellence or digital transformation
+ Familiarity with energy management systems, emissions reporting, or turnaround planning is a strong plus
**Ideally, you’ll also have**
+ Experience with refinery digital transformation initiatives, AI/ML application in operations, or joint innovation with OEMs or digital platforms
+ Exposure to business case development, proposal writing, or value-based storytelling in a commercial setting
+ A strong network in the downstream ecosystem (refiners, chemical operators, EPCs, and technology providers)
+ Prior consulting experience or internal transformation leadership role in a plant environment
**What we look for**
We’re looking for a credible, hands-on solution leader, someone who understands how complex downstream assets operate and how they can evolve. This is a career-defining opportunity to shape the next generation of refinery and chemical operations: more intelligent, sustainable, and agile. If you thrive at the intersection of operational reality and transformative ambition, we’d love to have you help lead this journey.
