Objectives:
• Becomes an expert on the commodity trading and risk management (CTRM) system
• Elaborates business concepts and required process definitions, e.g. tolling via external party
• Manages, on a daily basis, the trading operations activities for BMM Base Metals Management in trading system, including but not limited to trade verifications and confirmations, payment approvals, etc.
• Manages the supply chain activities for BMM Base Metals Management (Nickel, Cobalt, Lithium, Manganese), including logistic arrangement, material planning, system inputs, inventory management, physical contract review and creation, customer onboarding and other operation-related activities.
• Acts as operational officer within the AP order management process
• Strong interaction with GB, GP, etc. in identifying suitable and cost efficient warehouse options, delivery modes, etc.
• Main interface to Logistic Service providers as well as metal suppliers
• Collaborates with the Head of Battery Base Metals, China to support the global Base Metals Management business within BASF's battery materials operating division.
• Closely collaborates with the Global Head of Controlling, Finance, and Trading Operations specifically related to trading operations tasks
• Replaces BM China Customer Service Officer in case of sickness or vacation related absence
Main Tasks:
• Executes on a daily basis trade verifications, confirmations, payment approvals, etc.
• Independently develops business concepts for Asian metals management market
• Manage customers onboarding and KYC process.
• Align and adhere to the BASF established operational policies and procedures, including but not limited to 4-eyes principles, segregation of duties, and all internal control guidelines.
• Arrange logistic booking, goods delivery, manage shipment tracking, and coordinate shipment related issues.
• Lead operational supply chain projects to achieve set objectives.
• Act as operational Officer within the AP order management process.
• Coordinate and support commercial managers for import, export and domestic metals business.
• Work with CCRM for customer payment term and credit limit review and application.
• Manage the China metals inventory and work with derivative trader for hedging activities for both BASF and Joint ventures
• Master's degree
• Min. 3-5 years' experience in base metals operations, supply chain planning and scheduling, inventory management and control, order management. Ideal experience to handle the dangerous chemical battery metals like lithium hydroxide and nickel sulphate.
• Experience in SAP & Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) system skills (including MM, P2P, SD, TM modules) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in both Chinese and English is required.
• Sufficient skills for Excel ,Word, PPT.
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical skills and results oriented, and able to work independently.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels both internal and external, and across time zones globally.
• Have a team-first attitude, be flexible with time zones and shifting priorities, and live a Growth Mindset – with a focus on continuous, sustainable improvements to drive forward the vision of the OneBM organization.
• Travel within China would be required.
