Supply Chain, Electrified Systems Analyst/Buyer

In this position...

As a Supply Chain, Electrified Systems Analyst/Buyer you will be responsible for delivering strategies and tactics that support the Ford EV revolution. You can expect to interact with supplier contacts primarily in North America but could potentially other regions of the world.  You will also interact with internal Ford personnel in North America, Europe, and China, as well as CAF (Ford/Changan joint venture) and Ford Otosan. Future model turnover is expected to grow, allowing significant opportunity for professional growth and visibility. 

This position is hybrid with 3 days a week in Dearborn.

What you’ll do…
 

Analyst: Provide effective strategies and actionable tactics to reduce overall cost, including material cost and costs of supplier product development and testing. Scope of work includes all future and current xEV model programs. Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategies that align to business objectives. Analyze complex supplier cost data, including component cost estimates and gaps to cost estimate, to identify cost reduction opportunities, cost risks, and material cost levers/drivers. Drive data transparency from the supply base to support fact-based negotiations to deliver cost targets. Understand physical details of the parts, supplier manufacturing processes, supplier costs, and cost gaps to internal cost estimates. Communicate and establish strong relationships with Electrified Systems Product Development counterparts to understand their needs and needs of the programs Work closely with finance, purchasing, product development, and program leadership teams to develop actionable insights and cost-saving tactics that are consistent with overall commodity strategy. Work with global counterparts (Europe and China) to develop and maintain commodity strategy. Buyer: Lead the process to source component commodities as needed, that are meeting or exceeding program targets of quality, cost, and timing. Develop sourcing strategies, issue and analyze all requests for information and requests for quotation. As needed, oversee the negotiation, execution, and administration of supplier contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined and aligned with organizational objectives. Cultivate and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, demonstrating a deep understanding of their business needs, challenges, and opportunities. Treat suppliers with respect while holding them accountable for all aspects of delivery (product quality, cost, delivery, warranty, etc) Act as a leader within Ford and assist others within the Supply Chain Management group as needed Provide support to the in-production Supply Chain Business Solutions purchasing team Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
 

What you’ll have…

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or another relevant field. 5+ years of experience in commodity supply chain management, component cost development and analysis, or similar experience. Understanding of program sourcing processes and their key milestones in support of launch.  Fluency with purchasing systems and GPDS. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required


Even better you’ll have…

Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or another relevant field. 5+ years of supply chain/vehicle program/category management experience in: xEV Power Electronics, SMT/PCB Manufacturing, or xEV Electrical Systems. Strong data & analytics skills for synthesizing complex and/or limited data into clear, understandable formats. Strong communication skills (written and verbal), able to effectively transition from detailed analysis to concise executive messaging. Clear understanding of complex sourcing processes. Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. Collaborative leader and team player.

This position is a range of salary grades 7-8.
