Supplier Quality Engineer - Eletronics (M/F/D)

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Supplier Quality Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal. The SQE is responsible for ensuring that the parts supplied by direct suppliers always meet the established specifications, also ensuring that the production line does not experience downtime due to quality issues (from suppliers). Responsibilities: + Responsible for opening official complaints (CPMs) to direct suppliers due to quality issues, ensuring root cause investigation and closure with effective corrective actions, all properly documented in an 8D Report. + Execute problem-solving activities, including coordinating meetings with suppliers for the development and evaluation of 8D reports, implementing containment actions in the factory (such as sorting and rework), managing external teams, and ensuring that non-conforming parts (NOK) are properly blocked. CPM Activities (Complaints) + Ensure that, after the conclusion of a quality complaint with the supplier, they take responsibility for the associated costs, formalizing the commitment through the signing of an official document ("Charge Back Report").Effectively and appropriately manage the blocked stock, ensuring that the material is scrapped or returned to the supplier within the deadlines defined in the procedures.Responsible to define, implement, and update work instructions in the Incoming Quality Control area, as well as providing continuous support to the area’s activities, ensuring components meet quality requirements.Collaborate with other departments to promote continuous improvement, solve quality issues, and prevent impacts on the production line and customers. + Monitor the APQP status of components in launch and ensure that PPAP parts are measured in the laboratory, with results compared to the supplier’s report. + For new components, not yet approved or recently approved, ensure they are tested on the BorgWarner production line to confirm proper validation PPAP Activities (APQP) + Responsible for issuing formal complaints (CPMs) to suppliers for not approved components but already in use at the plant, and for evaluating the 8D Report in collaboration with the SDE. + Responsible for managing e-SCRs (Supplier Change Requests), acting as the link between suppliers and the Change Management and Engineering departments, and ensuring proper implementation of the approved changes in the components.Develop, in collaboration with the supplier, a new PPAP in case of a revision level change in the component, 90 days after the initial approval (except for level 3 PPAPs). + Ensure that suppliers perform the annual requalification of their components, as described in the supplier manual, by requesting the dimensional report, material certificate, and/or other relevant documents. + Perform internal process audits (LPA), ensuring that procedures and quality standards are properly followed in the shop floor area. Audits + Perform on-site supplier audits to ensure compliance with the annual supplier audit program Requirements & Competencies Academic Background + Technical Degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in Electronics, Materials or Mechanical Engineering) Professional Experience: + Two or more years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer and/or in similar Quality-related roles, preferably in the automotive area. Hard/Technical Skills + Strong knowledge of quality tools (8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, and PPAP) + Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards (a plus). + Experience in conducting internal and/or supplier audits (Training in VDA 6.3 and ISO 19011 is valued). + Ability to interpret 2D technical drawings (An asset). + Good knowledge of electronic components (PCBs, capacitors, resistors, ICs…). + Ability to interpret electronic component specifications (Data Sheets). + Experience in dealing with international suppliers to resolve quality issues. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement. + Fluent in English and Portuguese (spoken and written). + Good knowledge of IT tools (mainly SAP and MS Office). + Experience in the Quality area, preferably in the automotive sector.
