Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

 

Job Summary
Under general supervision, coordinates activities for compliance of and the improvement of all vendors. Provides technical support to investigate, audit, develop, and implement continuous improvement for vendors/suppliers to achieve high quality, productivity, and safety.

Responsibility

 

Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data. Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. Conduct supplier audits and internal audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions. Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints. Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality   procedures, etc. Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions. Continuously improve QA receiving inspection process and procedures. Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions. Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits. Prepare reports for Quality Assurance. Up to 35% travel will be required to visit suppliers. Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

 

Academic/Educational Requirements

 

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or other related discipline is required. Three to five years of related experience with experience in quality assurance functions.


Required Skills/Experience

Possess good written skills in order to write quality assurance reports that describe manufacturing problems, corrective actions taken, and preventative measures needed. Proposals are usually written for non-technical audiences such as clients and management. Ability to make presentations to management during meetings to provide an overview of areas such as product costing, maintenance and equipment failures which need to be considered when planning for coming year. Ability to assess suitability of candidates for specific positions. Review resumes comparing applicants' experience and training to requirements of position. Evaluate applicants' responses in job application interviews and interpret information provided by employment and personal references. Experience with APQP: Process Control Plans, PFMEA, Gauge Planning, and all levels of PPAP requirements. Read operating and quality assurance reports to understand technical and operational information about facilities, processes and equipment. Experience in drawing interpretations and geometric dimensional tolerancing. Knowledge and experience in gauging methods, calibration, and gauge R and R’s. Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques. Ability to lead and co-ordinate project teams which include other engineers, technologists, clients and contractors when designing, developing and building products or facilities. Proficient with MS Office and CAD applications. Familiar with IATF  16949 quality standards. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining. Possess drive and motivation to continuously learn by attending formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed. Conduct self-directed studies by reading journals and trade publications. Must be aware of new technologies and advances in the engineering field.
