Supply Quality Manager
Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of supplier assessments, drive both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Each day, you will manage operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. You will also showcase your expertise by managing the supplier’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).You will be mainly accountable for:•\tSupplier Qualification: Drive supplier qualifications to ensure the supply base is fully qualified and compliant. Conduct audits and assessments, and drive gap-closure activities. Approve capable suppliers and reject incapable suppliers. Onboard desirable suppliers.•\tSupplier Production Part Approval: Execute supplier manufacturing readiness via Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidelines. Approve supplier material, process, project and ultimately part. Note: requires close coordination with other functions and experts like engineering and global supply chain.•\tSupplier Audits: Conduct risk-based surveillance audits of current supply base, and drive supplier closure of all findings.•\tIssue Resolution and Claims: Operationally lead and execute supplier poor performance with non-confirming material, and un-timely / late deliveries. For supplier-fault issues, prepare a claims case for the responsible buyer to support vendor recovery.•\tSupplier Development: By Lean6Sigma and risk-based methodologies, identify needed improvements with supplier capabilities to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements. Perform assessments to establish a fact-based baseline of current state. This via using standardized assessments and when necessary build customized versions. Establish development plans for identified areas based on the assessments/ supplier data and carry out the development plan with necessary resources from supplier and ABB. Perform risk mitigation activities on request from the organization. Coach and lead team members involved in the development activities.•\tSupplier Performance Evaluation / Monitoring: Develop, monitor and report supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues, and development actions. Secure that the results are shared with the supplier, internal plant operations personnel, and internal supply chain personnel.•\tInterface with other functions: This role requires close cooperation with category teams, buyers, Quality, Operations, HSE, Engineering, R&D and Logistics, amongst others. The SQE represents the “Voice of the Supplier” to ABB and represents the “Voice of ABB” to the supplier.•\tResponsible for product quality at assigned suppliers, especially familiar with casting, machining, painting, process.
Qualifications for the role\t5+ years SQE experience, supporting multi-manufacturing sites & global suppliers\tBachelor’s degree in Engineering\tKnowledge of quality tools and quality management skills (ISO9001, PPAP, 8D report, PFMEA, Control plan, etc) or equivalents\tFluent in English - written and verbal\tLean Six Sigma (L6S) certified – green belt or Black Belt preferred\tSelf-Starter\tAction-oriented, with ability to multitask & manage organizational complexity\tStrong cross functional collaboration skills & experiences\tFrequent Travel – 50-70%
