Supplier Development Engineer

Purpose of the position
Execute KALMAR Sourcing Supplier Development processes, tools and strategies, to Continuously improve Suppliers performance to mitigate risks in terms of Quality, Delivery, Capacity and Sustainability.
Main tasks and responsibilities
● Lead supplier development activities from pre-production to the start of production.
● Qualify suppliers through onsite assessments, adhering to the Supplier Approval and Risk Management processes.
● Maintain, improve, and continuously develop supplier quality and delivery performance in line with the Category
Strategy.
● Manage part and process assurance to meet project targets and timelines.
● Collaborate with stakeholders to manage the decision process for supplier escalation.
● Conduct audits to improve underperforming suppliers, aligned with the supplier improvement strategy.
● Support Category Strategy and suppliers in Continuous Improvement workshops, applying Lean methodology/ Six Sigma
and tools.
● Lead proactive activities with suppliers to improve quality, capability, capacity, and drive cost reductions.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
B.Sc. , M.Sc. In --Engineering - quality , process and production or MBA preferred or equivalent experience
Experience:
● Minimum 5 years in supplier development role ,supplier quality, supply chain management, and/or
manufacturing/process engineering within a component manufacturing company, emphasizing a strong quality mindset.
● Capacity planning and supply chain management.
● Continuous improvement mindset, including change leadership and management with a process focus.
● Proficiency in Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, and Project Management tools.
● Experience communicating with diverse cultures and nationalities.
● Lead auditor experience during Supplier onboarding process or CI projects
Competencies:
● Competence in Standards relevant to Steel category including Steel light , Steel Medium manufacturing and welding processes
● Experience and competence in leading and conducting Paint process audits for wet and powder coating processes and procedures in accordance with relevant standards .
● Competence in Supplier Quality Assurance (APQP/PPAP or similar).
● Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other relevant ISO standards.
Key Stakeholders:
Teams involved include Sourcing, Supplier Development, R&D, Material Planning, Quality, Aftermarket, and Warranty, as well as
external Suppliers.
