We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a **Supplier Development Engineer** **in Mossville, IL.** The **Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD)** is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). We’re exploring new ideas and opportunities – **innovating** to discover the breakthroughs necessary for tomorrow’s growth. **Job Summary:** The **Supplier Development Engineer** assesses the supplier quality and ensures that all the products are free from defects and are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and legal standards. **Additional Info** : + This position requires the candidate to **work a 5 day-a-week schedule in the Mossville, IL office.** + **Relocation Offered:** None. + **Sponsorship Offered:** None. + **Travel:** 30-40% (Domestic & International) **What You Will Do:** + Ensure the quality of supplies by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify any quality issues; Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanism. + Generate reports on supplier quality by monitoring their defect rates and areas that can lead to potential flaws; Guide suppliers to reduce these defect rates. + Research potential vendors, assess their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures; Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards. + Support suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implement process controls, and develop quality assurance plans. **What You Have (Required Skills):** + **Effective Communications** : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. + **Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)** : Knowledge of Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) elements, submissions, and objectives; ability to determine whether a supplier can manufacture products that meet the quality requirements and standards of their customers consistently. + **Supplier Evaluations and Certification** : Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification; ability to identify the methods, tools and documentation for evaluating, selecting and certifying vendors, suppliers and partners. **What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):** + Bachelor’s degree or higher + **Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies** : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance. + **Process Improvement** : Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services. + Experience in ETQ Reliance + Experience in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) **What You Will Get:** Through it all, we are one team (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYIDne7Q5ek&list=PLwAXbfivFg0jmiNqqgFLeQJpRB\_i-UVln&index=39) – creating and delivering world-class components and solutions superior to the competition.
