Supplier Development Engineer

The Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) plays a critical role in enhancing the performance of our global supply chain through continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the Supplier Performance Management Process (SPMP).

This role demands a strong foundation in Quality, Operations, and Engineering, coupled with a solid business acumen in Supply Chain Management.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead Supplier Development Activities with critical suppliersMonitor and drive improvement initiatives for suppliersLead long-term systemic projects under the Supplier Continuous Improvement Program (SCIP) for underperforming suppliers.Conduct Quality Management System (QMS) assessments and drive corrective actions to ensure adherence to Polaris requirements.Train and promote the use of quality tools such as SPC, DOE, 8D, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Polaris-specific processes across the supplier base.Ensure timely and effective execution of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAR/CAPA).Support suppliers in identifying true root causes and implementing sustainable, technical corrective actions.Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.Prepare and update executive summaries to communicate supplier development statusReport quality system improvement progress for suppliers listed on the Critical Supplier List (CSL) and Supplier Continuous Improvement Program (SCIP)In partnership with current product supplier quality resources, monitor supplier performance on KPIs such as DPM, delivery, CAPA timeliness and qualityInitiate No New Business (NNB) requests for non-viable suppliers and coordinate exit strategies with Sourcing.Process Development and InnovationLead proactive improvement projects to support departmental goals.Document, sustain, and enhance core processes such as SCIP, CSL, and NNB. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing.

Skills and Qualifications:

BS Degree in Engineering. Minimum 8 years’ experience in Quality Engineering.Strong technical problem-solving skills (e.g., Six Sigma, Shainin Red X).Proficient in Quality Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across functions and with a global supplier base.Advanced English communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to write technical reports and present across all organizational levels.Currently hold one of the following certifications (or similar recognized credential): Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, Shainin Red X Master, Shainin Red X Journeyman or Certified Quality Engineer.Preferred: Certified ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 auditor.Preferred: Experience with Automotive OEMs or automotive suppliers.
