Supervisory Recreation Assistant
Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Kadena Marina on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa Japan. Responsibilities This position resides at Kadena Marina is responsible for supervising and overseeing Kadena Marina's Scuba Locker Program. Incumbent reports directly to the Marina Director. Responsible for the planning, developing and operations of the Marina Scuba Locker Program. Directs the various functions of the scuba locker to include, not limited to rentals, air fill station, and resale operations. Serves as the lead for communicating and/or implementing policies and objectives of management. Provides input for the preparations of the NAF Income and Expense Budget, the BWO Budget and 5-year capital improvement plan. Responsible for ensuring all forms related to financial property, safety, personnel, marketing, training and any other forms and reports as required by management to properly be completed, maintained and submitted. Establishes new accounts with scuba industry vendors, maintains POS database records, and assists with maintaining equipment assets through accountability for maintenance, repairs and the timely disposal of assets. Establishes and maintains controls for resale inventory to include stock control, reorder points, merchandise turnover ratio pricing etc. Responsible for the inventory, organization and ordering of scuba repair, special order, and replacement parts. Works with maintenance department to ensure scuba rental equipment and compressors are maintained in serviceable condition, parts are ordered and all records kept current. Assists in ensuring scuba program is financially sound and operates within budgetary constraints. Works with marketing to publicize regular programs and special events. Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of scuba locker/retail store. Assist with plans and preparations for typhoons to ensure marina assets are protected and secured. Assists with training, evaluations or work performance, providing feedback, resolving minor complaints or concerns of staff and customers, scheduling, and payroll. Provides recommendations into personnel actions such as pay adjustments, awards, disciplinary actions and training opportunities. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of work directed. Ensures employees are trained to provide quality customer service, receives and responds to customer inquiries, comments and complaints. May serve as acting manager in the absence of Marina Director. Qualifying Experience: Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in retail sales. Must have a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience Experience in POS Systems. Must have experience with quality control, cash handling and inventory management procedures. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Must be able to work in a high-performance atmosphere with commitment to service goals. Must be able to multi-task with high quality follow-up and holding teams accountable to results. Attention to detail is required. Knowledge of any of the following activities is highly desirable: Water Sports, Scuba, Surfing, Snorkeling or Equipment Maintenance and Repair. Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible.
