Summary A supervisory clinical pharmacist position within the Pharmacy Department of White Earth Service Unit, Bemidji Area, Indian Health Service. The Assistant Pharmacy Director - Clinical Operations will report to the Pharmacy Director and serve as an administrator over clinical pharmacy services, supervisor to clinical pharmacists associated with clinical pharmacy programs and practicing pharmacist within clinical and central pharmacy programs. Evaluates work performance of subordinates; addresses performance deficiencies; recognizes exemplary employee performance and rewards appropriately. Clinical pharmacy services management and support to optimize short-term and long-term operational objectives. Manages PPCC operation, prepares schedules for completion of work and assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and capabilities of employees. Devises and implements methods to control and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of services delivered and metrics collected by clinical pharmacy operations. Optimizes quality of services delivered and work directed with efficient use of resources allocated. Advises leadership on clinical pharmacy service quality benchmarks and standards. Conducts clinic-authorized outpatient clinical pharmacy services as delineated by established service unit collaborative practice agreement, following appropriate clinical guidelines, national and/or local training, bylaws, policies or procedures. Supports central pharmacy staffing requirements and operations, when required. Provides direct pharmaceutical services to outpatients; performs all pharmacist duties while upholding IHM Part 3, Chapter 7, local policy, bylaws and department standard operating procedures. Education A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to: Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or Maintaining all medication records required by law. Basic Requirements for the GS-13 Grade Level In addition to the licensure and educational requirements described above, a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in planning, organizing, reviewing, evaluating and implementing duties of an outpatient pharmacy clinical services operation; experience practicing clinical pharmacy services under a collaborative practice agreement; experience with credentialing, privileging and peer review assessment of clinical pharmacy services; experience collaborating with medical providers to optimize medication therapies in a clinical pharmacy setting; directing or leading pharmacy operations or teams; collecting data for reporting; data-driven decision-making; preparing and maintaining a departmental budget, knowledge of clinical billing and outpatient pharmacy revenue cycle; creating schedules and assigning work for subordinates and evaluating work performance; mentoring, coaching, teaching and serving as a preceptor for students and/or residents.
