Summary You will serve the Code 222 Project Support Engineer, Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Availability Support Division of the Engineering Department of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will be responsible for technical and repair support of diversified and complex shipboard techniques and processes relating to Ships Systems. You will provide engineering support for the planning, execution, and closeout of depot level availabilities on surface ships. You will plan work and assign tasks to subordinates, set priorities and approve work schedules. You will evaluate performance of personnel, mentor, give advice and counsel on work and administrative matters. You will prepare, submit and justify the Branch's tasking agreements with other commands. You will manage branch finances to ensure proper utilization and expenditures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical engineering guidance by managing complex shipboard systems (e.g. hull, mechanical, electrical) and projects to ensure optimal performance and mission readiness. Education Additional Information Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) is one of five regional maintenance centers (RMCs) that reports to Commander, Naval Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC). As a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) field activity under CNRMC, SWRMC contributes to the NAVSEA mission: "We design, build, deliver, and maintain ships and systems on time and on cost for the United States Navy." We provide a "one stop shop" maintenance philosophy which includes planning, execution, and close out of maintenance actions required to keep our ships combat ready. Our support ranges include casualty repair, fleet technical assistance calls, innovative intermediate work in various production shops, and depot level "heavy lifting" capability to overhaul and maintain ships throughout their deployment cycle This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
