Requisition ID: req59433 Job Title: Supervisor - Youth & Education Sector: Social Work Employment Category: Regular Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: USD 70,000.00 - 70,000.00 Annually Location: Silver Spring, MD USA Work Arrangement:Hybrid Job Description The Program Supervisor - Youth & Education oversees IRC’s portfolio of after-school, weekend, and summer academic and mentoring programs that serve humanitarian immigrant youth and their families, with a primary focus on youth aged 12-24. The supervisor leads program delivery; supervises a team of staff; contributes to program development and serves as a liaison between IRC, public schools, families, and youth program partners. This position reports to the Program Manager, supports 2-3 direct reports and collaborates closely with program leads across the office. Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program Leadership • Lead the youth team broadly, with a focus on implementing current grants and programs to achieve desired outcomes. • Identify youth and education needs in the community. Review best practices and make data-driven decisions to support these needs. • Supervise program coordinators and support program staff as they implement evidence-based programs in line with RAI network approaches and youth & education standards. • Support local leadership in determining program vision, updating program design, reviewing and potentially adapting or expanding program offerings. • Coordinate closely with other IRC departments to ensure seamless client service delivery, using a client-centered service model. • Guide youth program policies and procedures. Ensure these align with organizational, federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, including safeguarding, safety, security, data management, confidentiality, etc. People Management • Supervise a team in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards; formally evaluate team and individual performance to ensure objectives have been met. • Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and support the professional development of program staff. • Represent the youth team at conferences, working groups and in other contexts. Resource & Partnership Management • Lead program implementation and compliance, with a focus on achieving desired program outcomes and maintaining compliance and documentation per funder requirements. • Submit accurate and timely program reports including data and narrative, highlighting successes and making recommendations to overcome challenges. • Manage program expenses to ensure costs are maintained within allocated budgets. • Represent the Youth & Education team when collaborating with partner agencies, public schools, community members, funders and potential funders. • Sustain and grow partnerships with the local school districts and other strategic partners. • Support program development. Work with the development team, program manager and deputy director to identify and secure grants to sustain and grow programs. • Other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; advanced degree in education, child psychology, public administration, social work, international affairs or other relevant field. Work Experience: • Minimum of three years progressive work experience in education and/or youth development. • Minimum of one years’ experience leading education programs including program design and development, staff supervision, monitoring, evaluation and advocacy. • Minimum two years' experience working with English Language learners. Demonstrated Skills & Competencies: • Proven organizational skills with ability to set priorities, manage time, and meet deadlines. Flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure is essential. • Experience maintaining high-quality program data and drafting narrative reports. • Demonstrated ability to develop staff professionally and manage for outcomes. • Strong relationship building and networking skills; ability to navigate internal and external relationships, including community stakeholders and donors. • Experience monitoring spending per program budgets. • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work successfully in cross cultural environment. • Ability to analyze complexity and work with leadership team to provide guidance. • Strong oral and written English communication. • Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Work Environment: • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a personal, insured vehicle, and ability to travel frequently in and around the service area to engage with clients and community partners. • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
