Supervisor - Steel Carpentry Shop

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

Under direction, the Steel Carpentry Supervisor plans, organizes and directs the operations of a steel fabrication workshop; and performs other related duties as required. The primary purpose of the Steel Carp. Shop Supervisor is to provide oversight and direction to Workshop resources to deliver required outcomes effectively and efficiently on the Snowy 2.0 project with respect to safety, personnel, productivity, quality and timing.

Qualifications:

Trades in welding, gas cutting, steel fabrication or similar White Card Drivers License – Heavy vehicle desirable Formal training in workplace training and assessment - desirable

Experience:

Minimum 10 years demonstrated previous experience within an engineering workshop or process plant environment with a minimum 5 years in a supervisory role Experience in basic use of Microsoft Office Suite, data and file recording. Experience in Safety, Community and Environmental Management Experience in Quality Management Experience in Planning & Resourcing

Ability to lead and manage teams Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages. Good communication skill, both oral and written Self motivated. Mechanical or Electrical Trade background Ability to implement and follow through on multiple issues and to achieve productive results Sound interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively Ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure Good organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment The ability to work well under pressure Strong analytical and problem-solving skills              Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills, competent using maintenance systems Ability to drive performance and the lead a team. Sound negotiation skills

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Ensuring the mechanical components of our construction project is completed in a timely and cost effective manner to meet the project’s expectations. Responsible for employee and sub-contractor supervision, and providing technical expertise on the construction, installation, and commissioning of the project Responsible for the day to day supervision of the mechanical team, ensuring deadlines and targets are met, reporting directly to the Construction Manager. Review and plan projects to ensure technical aspects of each job are clear. Development of work packs to ensure workshops, sub-contract suppliers and site installation scopes are well defined. Review project costs and report on budget and schedule achievements. Provides a focal point for queries from the internal stakeholders or associated sub suppliers. Assist with purchasing of materials for projects by assessing quantities and completing purchase orders. Ensuring materials reach site and provide a contact point for Workshop, Sub-contractors, Transport, and Sites. Ensuring that quality requirements are adhered to and that company procedures are followed
