Lead and supervise the operational team at New Zealand's first Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) facility, ensuring excellence in safety, performance, and reliability. Responsible for developing operational standards and managing integration with existing Moa Point WWTP while establishing best practices and developing local capability.

What you’ll be responsible for

Leadership and People Management:

Lead, mentor, and supervise SMF operational teamFoster proactive safety cultureCoordinate shift patterns and resource allocationMonitor team performance and provide feedbackDeputise for Wastewater Treatment Manager when requiredDrive employee engagement and development

Operational Management:

Ensure compliance and optimal performance of SMF processesOversee daily operational activitiesCollaborate with WWTP teams for integrated performance\Review and analyse operational data and trendsImplement process improvementsCoordinate maintenance activitiesEnsure accurate data recordingSafety and Compliance:Lead site safety initiativesEnsure environmental complianceOversee contractor managementMaintain emergency response preparednessInvestigate incidents and hazards

Knowledge Transfer:

Provide expert guidance in THP operationsTransfer technical knowledge to local teamsEstablish operational procedures

Qualifications

Current Veolia employee with proven track record

Demonstrated expertise in THP operations

Strong technical background in wastewater treatment

Excellent communication and mentoring skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

Resilience and adaptability

Results-oriented approach

 

Required Qualifications and experience:

Degree in Engineering and/or Technical certifications in Wastewater treatment

Minimum 5 years experience in THP operations and demonstrated expertise in wastewater treatment processes

Demonstrated supervisory experience

Leadership track record

Health and Safety certifications

Fluent English language skills (verbal and written)

History in training and mentoring operational staff
