Are you a proactive and organised individual with experience leading operational teams? We are currently seeking a Supervisor for Public Toilets to join our Facilities Services team and take responsibility for the delivery of clean, safe, and well-maintained public toilet facilities across Edinburgh
Location: Edinburgh
Job Type: Temporary ongoing
Rate of pay: £14.93 per hour
Working Hours: 4 days on 4 days off 09.00-20.30 with 60min break
Successful applicants will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a designated team of public toilet operatives, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and customer service at facilities throughout the city. You will lead on the planning and supervision of cleaning schedules, maintenance support, inspections, and staff coordination.
Your duties will include:
Plan, prioritise, and allocate staff and resources to ensure citywide toilet coverage at all timesMonitor and allocate daily work using route planning software, schedules, and mobile technologyEnsure staff compliance with health and safety regulations at the beginning and end of shifts, confirming driver readiness and vehicle checks (where applicable)Distribute daily instructions and paperwork to crews, tracking performance and completion throughout the day and on return to depotMonitor progress against service standards and schedules, addressing any issues that may impact deliveryIdentify and resolve performance issues, escalating or addressing them as necessaryMaintain regular contact with site staff, responding to any on-the-job issues or emergenciesConduct and oversee risk assessments with staff and act to mitigate potential Health & Safety risksHandle and investigate complaints from members of the public, councillors, or internal departments, identifying and addressing any recurring issuesMaintain accurate records and documentation including staff registers, vehicle/driver compliance logs, attendance, absence, and disciplinary recordsLiaise with contractors for maintenance, supply replenishment, and specialist services when neededAbout You
We’re looking for someone with:
A valid UK driving licence (essential)Previous supervisory experience in a similar operational environmentStrong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelExcellent customer service and communication skillsThe ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or confrontational public situationsPunctuality, honesty, and reliability as key personal valuesStrong problem-solving and organisational skillsTo Apply: Please apply directly via this advert
