Performs work involving supervision of the phlebotomy section of the laboratory.  Ensures patient care and specimen processing are provided in a way that meets customer needs in an efficient and professional manner.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

Specimen Protocol: Establishes, maintains, and monitors mechanisms which ensures timely and accurate processing of inpatient and outpatient requests.  Prepares and adjusts work schedules and assignments as needed.Employee Training: Participates actively in the selection and training of employees.  Develops systems to evaluate employee performance on a regular basis.  Provides coaching, guidance, and counseling as needed.Policies and Procedures: Writes, reviews, and updates departmental Policies and Procedures.  Assures compliance with the approved Policies and Procedures.Safety and Performance Improvement: Identifies, develops, and analyzes performance improvement indicators for the department.  Promotes a safe work environment. Financial Management: Reviews the Monthly Financial Reports.  Assures that Variances are properly explained.  Meets the Productivity targets.Customer Relations: Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner to address concerns and takes steps to resolve these.  Interacts with outreach clients to ensure that client's expectations are met in a professional way.  Actively participates in evaluating and improving Patient Satisfaction Scores.Actively participates in the successful development and management of the Outreach (MethCare) program.Develops systems to manage inventory.  Takes necessary steps to reduce waste and optimize resource utilization. JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Thorough understanding of regulations governing laboratory services.Basic understanding of financial and statistical tools.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Ability to provide compassionate patient care orientation.Energetic, self-motivated, and drivenPBT(ASCP) and/or MT/MLT (ASCP) is required.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATION

High School Diploma/GED Equivalent RequiredPBT(ASCP) or CLPIB (NCA) or MLT/MT(ASCP) or Equivalent Required5 years of experience in Healthcare/Medical Laboratory setting Required
