Enbridge Gas North Carolina has an opening for a Supervisor - Gas Operations. The Operations & Maintenance Department is responsible for providing safe operations and maintenance of our natural gas distribution system and other company facilities, locating underground distribution lines and emergency response.

This position is located at the Company’s Apex Operations Center in Apex, North Carolina.

What You Will Do:

Supervises, completes human resources activities, leads daily activities, and manages performance of a diverse team of operations employees for the Company’s Apex Operations Center.Manages transactions with internal and external customers, local and state officials, and trade allies to ensure that customers’ needs are consistently met in a safe, timely, and profitable mannerResolves customer inquiries and complaints about DENC regulated and non-regulated workEnsures North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC), Department of Transportation (DOT), environmental, and company standards are followed consistently as company personnel perform natural gas emergency response, meter installation, and other regulated duties to provide and maintain a safe and reliable systemLeads emergency response activities including emergency response, repair and restoration of natural gas service in a timely and safe manner; rotates as supervisor on-callOversees, directs, and provides technical assistance in order to develop and maintain a knowledgeable, diverse workforce.Takes steps to ensure daily activities are aligned with Corporate Strategic InitiativesPrepares and leads regular employee meetings including business review, safety, and environmental updatesResponsible for scheduling maintenance and repair of company vehicles and facilitiesDevelops, reviews, monitors budget goals and employee productivity

Who You Are:

7+ years of directly related experience plus High School diploma or equivalent; or 5+ years directly related experience plus Associate's degree; or 3+ years of directly related experience plus Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Natural Gas industry.A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.Availability for natural gas emergency response during the workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends.Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Apex, North Carolina area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for Enbridge Gas North Carolina and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when acting as Supervisor on-call.Strong, demonstrated leadership traits including the ability to effectively handle conflict and model the Company’s values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct; and share ideas and expertise to accomplish goals.Experience maintaining a sustained focus on work quality and safety.Ability to train, coach, and mentor a team of a diverse set of employees and foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration.Demonstrated experience handling constantly changing and emerging priorities and scheduling/prioritizing work.Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, codes/standards and contracts.Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers in a competent and professional manner.A working knowledge of computers with experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, LDF and CAD/SFS.Some overnight travel may be required.

Preferred:

A working knowledge of Sales Force and/or SAPProficient in Spanish

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 45 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Other Working Conditions

Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field - both outside in varying weather conditions and inside customers’ premises.

Position requires travel throughout the service territory with frequent stops, entering/exiting the company vehicle, safely parking in a wide variety of situations, and driving in construction zones.

Military service members and veterans with a rank of E-5 or higher plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
