Supervisor - Field Operations Support

Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Field Operations Support team supports the management of our operations across the network through collaborative decision-making, strategic planning, irregular operations management, and effective communication.

Serves as key member of the Field Operations Support team, providing oversight and support of activity within a region of United’s operational network. Proactively monitors flight-level exceptions with other operating organizations to achieve optimum operational performance, and supports United’s core4 values through critical decision-making.

Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of Flight Following Information (FLIFO) updates within area of responsibilityIdentify, preplan and provide support for significant irregularities such as Air Traffic or significant weather impacts, safety/security emergencies, major flight-level events (Diversions, Returns), and pre-cancellation determinations by laising with stations, and NOC partnersDevelop and prioritize tactical plans to proactively manage exceptions arising in area of responsibility using critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skillsProvide station and network level guidance on flight activity in coordination with team members across the United and United Express networkSupport the centralized diversion management process to include station readiness, real time handling, and recovery in collaboration with station and NOC teamsResponsible for supporting the safety culture through strategic communication and proactive resolution of safety risk situationsDevelop and initiate plans with stations for operational efficiency including next day STAR operational irregularities, A:14 opportunities and Quick Turns

Provide support and coordination of information used by flight planning and operations teams, by monitoring the integrity of certain data sources and communications

NOTE: This position is considered 100% onsite at the Arlington Heights, IL facility (NOC) and relocation is not provided for this role but can be reviewed on a case-by-case for external candidates.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

High school diploma, GED, or the educational equivalent of these2 or more years experience in an operational or leadership capacityKnowledge operation, management and logistics principlesAbility to conduct root cause analysis and develop real-time tactical plans during irregular operations Curiosity about all aspects of airline operations and willingness to develop new skills and knowledgeProven track record and gained knowledge in roles requiring decisive action backed by strategic planning, continuous improvement, analytical problem-solving, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performanceStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and technical skills using industry and United applicationsProficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)Must be able to work all shifts and holidays as requiredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
