Supervisor Emergency Department Coding
*Description* *Summary:* Directs and supervises day-to-day operations of the ED Coding areas of the department Coordinates Coding related aspects of the Networks' Compliance Plan, including quality monitoring, staff education, accountable for quality, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of ED coding, abstracting, data entry for optimal reimbursement and statistical purposes. *Responsibilities:* 1. Directs and supervises workflow to ensure timely bill submission, as well as, individual coder work assignment to balance productivity with coder skill set and individual competence. Monitors coders productivity based on set standards. Keeps low volume 2. Assures that all coding is based on actual physician documentation. Works with Physician liaison and clinical staff to obtain complete documentation, helps to identify areas of documentation needing improvement. 3. Performs quarterly compliance audits on and CPT assignment including professional and facility E/M, procedures, injections /infusions and supply charges, quality and completeness of the record, analyzes findings and submits written reports to the manager 4. Stays current with ICD 10 CM and CPT regulatory and code changes. Assists coding manager in cross training of coders and providers� education as needed. 5. Maintains a working knowledge of Ed coding including ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding principles, government regulations, coding/billing software, third party billing protocol requirements, as well as trends in the prospective payment system. Performs actual codin 6. Instrumental in strengthening coder�s knowledge of ICD 10 coding guidelines, CPT/EM coding Principals and methodology. Supervises and advises regarding the training of new coders by senior coders. 7. Coordinates correction of coding related CHIME data element errors and helps to identify system or data quality problems to reduce future errors and ensure system correction / management notification as necessary. 8. Conducts performance evaluations to build a strong team while assuring quality of service. 9. Works closely with business office and follows up on uncoded records and denials. 10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. *Education Skills Experience* * Required: Expertise in CPT coding including E/M coding. ICD 10 diagnoses coding. Skills to code CPT including Evaluation and management coding, ICD 10 diagnosis coding, knowledge of Anatomy and physiology. * Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. * Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions to the problems, and implementing change. * Strong comfort level with computer systems. * Strong verbal and writing communication skills. * Minimum Experience: five years Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in related field . * Previous experience with Supervisory responsibility.
