The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Supervisor – Electrical – Plant Electrical                 

                                            

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent - Power & Electrical Maintenance, the successful incumbent will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the plant's electrical maintenance team to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment. The role oversees installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in compliance with safety and regulatory standards, supporting continuous plant operations and minimizing downtime.

 

In this role, you will:

Carry out tasks as directed by the Electrical Superintendent or Foreman, including but not limited to, maintenance, fault finding & repair of all electrical equipment mentioned above Supervise, assign, and coordinate tasks for electricians and electrical technicians within the plant. Ensure all electrical systems, including motors, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and control systems, are maintained and operational. Monitor electrical system performance and plan preventative maintenance schedules. Lead troubleshooting efforts during electrical failures or outages to minimize production interruptions. Ensure all work complies with local electrical codes, plant safety policies, and industry standards. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and compliance documentation. Support the implementation of plant upgrades and capital projects involving electrical systems. Provide technical guidance and training to team members. Collaborate with engineering, production, and safety departments to ensure efficient plant operations. Lead root cause analysis for electrical incidents and implement corrective actions. Manage inventory of electrical parts and tools, ensuring readiness for planned and unplanned maintenance. Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures

 

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences.

Have a current National Energy Authority or PNG Power Electrical license  Have Trade Qualifications compliant to NATTB Electrical Trade. Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in heavy industry (e.g., mining, manufacturing, utilities, oil & gas) preferred Proven experience as an electrician, with a strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and installations. Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively. Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of electrical design software and project management tools.  Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems / workflow management systems (e.g. Oracle, JDE, SAP, etc.)
