Supervisor - Bioresources - 40 hrs/wk - Days - Detroit

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision is responsible for participating and assisting in the coordination of the daily operations of the Bioresources Department. This includes: staff hiring, termination, performance management, annual performance evaluation, daily schedule management (including Kronos), cage wash operations, management of animal records, veterinary care, and facility equipment and operations, procurement of animals, feed, bedding and supplies, investigator and IACUC support, staff development and training.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree or higher in related field with five to seven (5-7) years of related animal and/or leadership experience, OR Associate's degree in related field with eight to ten (8-10) years of related animal and/or leadership experience. Knowledge in the care, feeding, and handling of various laboratory animal species used for research. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to coordinate the work-related duties of non-exempt Bioresources staff. Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory experience. Ability to perform a variety of medical procedures and treatments utilizing specialized instruments and apparatuses. Ability to transport a variety of heavy research animal species, feed, bedding and supplies. Demonstrated knowledge of NIH, AAALAC, USDA, DEA, and IACUC standards and guidelines.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
