Supervisor, Supplier Quality

Purpose of Position

\n

The Supervisor, Supplier Quality leads a team of Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure that all materials and products sourced from outside suppliers meet Veeder-Root’s standards and industry codes. This role involves qualifying suppliers, inspecting products at the source, reviewing design manufacturability, working closely with suppliers and internal teams, verifying item availability, and handling nonconforming materials.

Key Responsibilities

\n\nLead and manage the Supplier Quality Engineering team to solve material quality problems and improve manufacturing efficiency.\nSet clear goals and performance expectations for team members, including regular weekly and quarterly meetings.\nOrganize and lead continuous improvement activities (kaizens) focused on enhancing quality, delivery, and productivity at supplier sites and Veeder-Root facilities.\nConduct manufacturing process audits at supplier locations; issue and track non-conformance reports; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.\nReview and approve product submission packages such as PPAP and FAI, ensuring improvement plans are in place.\nHandle customer complaints related to raw materials, ensuring timely root cause analysis and corrective actions are communicated and implemented.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with both customers and suppliers.\nContinuously assess materials, processes, and systems to confirm capability and consistency.\nCollaborate with Supply Chain and Operations teams to drive ongoing improvements in raw material quality and process stability.\nTrack and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team year over year.\nSupport procurement in selecting, developing, and assessing the risk of suppliers.\nPlan and lead supplier quality and manufacturing audits.\nDevelop programs aimed at improving supplier quality.\nCreate and implement a unified strategy for the Supplier Quality team aligned with company goals.\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Strategic Sourcing Leader.\n

        Background and Skills

\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, or related field preferred) with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience.\nClear and simple communication of complex technical issues; strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.\nSolid understanding of statistical process control and process capability analysis.\nExperience reviewing and approving product submission packages (PPAP, ISIR, FAI).\nSkilled at identifying true root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.\nStrong leadership, communication, analytical skills, and dedication to continuous improvement.\nAbility to coach and lead individuals and teams effectively.\nFlexibility to work overtime, different shifts, and travel on short notice.\nAble to work independently without close supervision.\nProficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access).\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.\nFamiliarity with quality tools and metrics.\nASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is a plus.\n\n
