Minimum Education: Completion of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid Oklahoma License for Respiratory Care. Valid Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire. Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of general disease state management processes. Ability to be detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Basic PC skills as required for electronic order entry and clinical documentation and data review. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Effectively utilizes labor resources. Assigns patients through staff assignment processes. Assesses progress of orienting employees through the mentoring process. Participates in the orientation of new personnel and assisting in monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care. Participates actively in projects and processes designed to improve patient outcomes. Effectively communicates progress of orienting employees to the Clinical Coordinator and Manager. Communicates with staff, patients, and families to identify, monitor and resolve conflicts. Maintains all patient care skills as defined in the RRT job description. Responds to Code Blues, Rapid Intervention Team calls, and transports by being timely and having the appropriate equipment. Maintains emergency equipment in a state of readiness. Assists/performs airway management and resuscitation. Evaluates, revises, and assists in the development of unit policies, procedures, and staff schedules. Complies with all health system, hospital, and departmental safety guidelines. Meets system, hospital, and departmental-specific competencies annually. Supports system, hospital, and departmental goals by attending staff meetings, in-services and other educational offerings. Practices self-direction by assuming responsibility and accountability for professional growth. Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Consults with other departments regarding patient needs. Serves as a consulting resource for nursing for recommendations regarding patient related issues. Serves as a resource regarding Respiratory Care policy and procedures. Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others - No. of people supervised: (40) Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
