Supervisor, Production

Job Title: Production Supervisor 

  

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Shift Superintendent, the Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within their assigned area(s) of production, ensuring that their teams meet performance goals related to attainment, safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role involves providing leadership, mentoring, and guidance to drive productivity and maintain compliance with Linamar’s operational standards and company policies.

Responsibility 

Ensure that daily production targets are met in terms of attainment, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Lead, coach and develop Team Leads to promote a high-performance culture and effective team collaboration.

Aggressively pursue OEE improvements by:

Thoroughly investigating any recurring down time issues or any down time that is more than 20 minutes.

Relentlessly pursuing the rate target by identifying and correcting issues with man, method, or machine.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality, to resolve production issues and improve operational efficiency.

Monitor and analyze production metrics (KPIs) such as output, productivity, and quality to assess assigned area(s)’s performance and implement improvements to enhance productivity.

Perform LPAs (Layered Process Audits) on time as scheduled.

Provide accurate shift reporting including attainment, scrap data, downtime issues, and other important information.

Engage in meaningful hand-off meetings at shift change and collaborate effectively with off-shift supervision partners.

Attend daily production meetings to track progress, address challenges, and provide solutions for continuous improvement.

Develop and coach team members of your assigned area(s), fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Prompt team effort and treat people with dignity and respect.

Assist in strategic planning and resource allocation to optimize production processes and meet long-term business goals.

Optimize material flow to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.

Understands how his/her job contributes to profitability.

Initiate, seek and champion continuous improvement.

Eliminate waste by rapidly solving problems at their source.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to fulfill the requirements to ensure on-time delivery.

Address personnel matters such as hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline in coordination with the Human Resources department.

Review vacation requests and approve or deny ensuring no interruption to production.

Schedule, approve and submit employee timecard records using the Plex system.

Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, company policies, and regulatory requirements, maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Team Leads and employees in Cast, X-Ray, Melt, Material Handling, and Finish Cells in their assigned area(s) of production.

 

Academic/Educational Requirements 

High School Diploma or equivalent required.  

3 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing setting. 


Required Skills/Experience 

Strong leadership skills. 

Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment. 

Must be able to read, write and complete required paperwork. 

Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. 

Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Must have strong interpersonal skills. 

Knowledge of production scheduling. 

Organized, self-motivated and self-directed. 

Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks. 

Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Must have Molten Metal Safety knowledge. 

Must have knowledge of solidification principles. 

Must have knowledge of casting defects categories and detection methods. 

Excellent attendance and safety record.
