Job Summary: Responsible for all management and technical aspects of Phlebotomy. Provides supervision, direction, technical support,and effective communication to staff. Ensures that staff members perform to the expectations of a service organization.Ensures appropriate daily staffing needs. Responsible for procedural development and maintenance of department manuals. Reviews annual staff competency. Actively participates in the department’s Quality Assurance / Improvement activities. Interacts with Nurses and Physicians to meet patient needs. Provide education performing venipuncture and skin puncture on patients of all ages for withdrawing blood specimens for laboratory testing. May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications [Required]: High school diploma or equivalent. California State Phlebotomy Certificate. Five (5) years clinical laboratory experience in Acute Care Facility. Knowledgeable in specimen processing, specimen referral, tube management, and computer entry processes. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, physician, and nursing issues. Knowledge of LIS Systems, including ad hoc reporting and database maintenance.
[Preferred Qualifications]: Bachelor’s Degree in a Clinical Lab Science, Medical Technology or related science.
Salary Range: $100,000 to $119,600 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
