Supervisor, EVS – UPMC Somerset

UPMC Somerset is seeking a full-time Supervisor to support their Environmental Services team!

This full-time role will work the 2nd shift, 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with on-call requirements for every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between all shifts with no noted communication problems. Attend all mandatory departmental and hospital in-services. Carry and answer 24-hour pager. Check assigned areas regularly to ensure personnel are performing work and following their work schedule.  React appropriately to noted observations, and reinforce behavior through either praise or corrective action. Complete a minimum of 5 inspections daily utilizing Pocket PC Technology. Complete the supervisor’s Development Program.  Prepare sign-in sheets at least one week in advance.  Start the shift on time and arrange to have adequate coverage at all times by using personnel effectively.  Ensure that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers at all times.  Oversee Lead Housekeepers, Housekeepers, and Floor and Project Technicians.  Ability to work under pressure as difficult situations arise.  Prepare administrative and employee documentation, monitor employee records and performance, meeting establish deadlines, or respond in an efficient and timely manner.  Make recommendations for, and assist with, corrective action under the guidance of the Operations Manager.  Approve PTO-assigned staff within departmental guidelines. Daily contact with head nurses and/or unit clerks to discuss opportunities. Discharges in the area of responsibility are completed within one hour from the time it is assigned. Ensure that sufficient supplies and equipment are available. Equipment is kept clean at all times and in good running order. Inspect 10% of all discharges when assigned to patient areas. Perform assigned duties in case of internal and external disasters, and fires/drills. Present the department in a positive manner to patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel. Ensure all legitimate requests within the facility are met immediately, giving the department a high reputation for service. Submit work orders for all applicable maintenance repairs in the area of responsibility. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
